#PowerHour
Tonight’s Bible Study lesson focused on Gratitude. Gratitude determines your attitude and your attitude determines your altitude. We need to learn to be thankful and grateful for what we have. If you’re not where you want to be, just hold on and God will get you there.
(Scriptures: Psalms 95:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 5:18; Psalms 69:1,2,30; Colossians 3:15-17)
We have so much to be grateful for. Sometimes it may seem like you have nothing to be grateful for but Jesus gave his life for us. He gave us the gift of eternal life and access to the throne of God, which gives us a better relationship with our creator, God.
It should give you great constellation just knowing you put your cares in the right place. He gave us a family to belong to because when you’re a Christian you belong to a family and are a child of God.
He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit, which is our comforter, our counselor and ever present friend in our time of need. God accepts your shortcomings and faults and recognizes your day to day needs. Gratitude begins when you realize that Jesus is the rock of our salvation.
Be grateful in all circumstances. Be able to adapt to any situation and know whatever comes your way that God will work it out for you. This is not your final destination or your final stop. God is in the blessing business. Sometimes he will bless the people beside you to show you what it will look like when he blesses you. Then, you will be even more grateful for that blessing.
Have you ever thought about wanting to see what God has in store for you? Would you wanna know what will happen in the future to see what you can see? It can be scary because God can only allow you to see so far. He can be letting you see or getting you ready but all you can see is what you’re going through. If you don’t see the silver lining, then you might quit before you get to where God wants you to be.
We gotta understand that it’s too early to quit. Learn to encourage others. Let them know that if God brought you out, he will bring them out. It doesn’t matter how you make it; just as long as you make it. God gives you enough to keep you going because if he gives you too much at one time you might not be able to handle it.
Be thankful that God gives and blesses because he can be quick to take it away. Never let stuff control your attitude or anything dictate your happy. The joy of the Lord is my strength. Give God thanks for ALL circumstances. It’s a simple command but that doesn’t make it easy. It’s difficult to have a grateful heart when you have been mistreated. Tell God to mend your heart.
God will give you the strength to go through anything. You have to stay obedient. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Wherever the wheel of God is taking you, the grace of God will cover you.
Gratitude can sometimes be the enemy of despair. We gotta focus on being thankful and praise God. God shouldn’t be your emergency contact. He should be your ONLY contact.
You have to learn to be thankful when we’re you’re praising God. Gratitude will give you the pass to peace. Everybody wants peace. Give God thanks because we are called to peace. Thank God for the little things and your walk won’t be in vain. A lot of people wait on the big blessings. Just tell God thank you for everything.
Thoughts to Remember:
- It’s good to be humble but even greater to be thankful.
- What a friend we have in Jesus.
- Make God your ONLY God.
- Trust God.
- Thank the Lord for the good AND the bad.
- Thank God for ALL things; not just the good things.
- We all need each other to survive.
Stay blessed family
